Imagine trying to focus while you’re in class but all you can think about is how you haven’t eaten anything and how hungry you are. Wouldn’t you wish there was some sort of organization that would give you free food just for being a student? Well, if you’re taking classes at South Mountain Community College, such organization already exists and is available to you Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s called Gabriel’s Pantry and they have been providing hungry college students with much needed nutrition for years.
Though it may seem as though there is always an endless supply of snacks to munch on, Gabriel’s Pantry can always use some donations to ensure they are able to meet the needs of hundreds of hungry college students every day.
To help them out, AAEC South Mountain’s NHS Chapter has planned an event where YOU can help out by donating food items to boxes located in your classroom. There are also a number of teachers who will be offering extra credit depending on how many items you donate. You can choose which classroom you will place the items in.
Boxes will be placed in all classrooms on Monday, February 11th and students will have until Thursday, February 28th to donate.
(NO RAMEN NOODLES PLEASE)
Some items you can donate include, but are not limited to:
- Granola Bars
- Nut/ Protein Snacks
- Trail Mix
- Apple Sauce
For any questions please reach out to one of your teachers for more information.
